Do-It-Yourself Votive Candle Holders

Do-It-Yourself Votive Candle Holders

This is a fun and really easy project that you can shear with your children and make it a family project or do if your in a beginners stage. I got this project from about. com. If you love candles and have a lot of them this project is perfect. These votive candles holders turn out looking great. I also love this idea because you can change the colors and designs up and you can use large candles holders or small.

Materials

A glass votive holder (one for each project).

Colored tissue paper cut into small squares (tissue paper works best and gives a translucence to the votive holder, but other papers such as newspaper, magazine paper, or thin pieces of fabric could be used).

White glue diluted with a little bit of water (Elmer’s is fine)

A small brush (don’t use an expensive one because the glue will make the bristles hard.

Directions

Put white glue into a jar or cup and add a little water. You want it about the consistency of watery paint.

Cut your tissue paper into small squares or other patterns. For a more random stained glass look, tear the paper into random varied shapes.

Start to place the paper on the holder.

Brush the glue mixture on the whole piece directly on the holder.

Continue until holder is completely covered and the deign you want.
