Cookies for Dogs
Cookies for Dogs
My dog Puppy, a large lazy Rottweiler, love her treats which can be very fattening at times. Knowing that I could not stop giving her the tasty goodies, I had to find a treat that was not only healthy but great in flavor as well. I started going to doggy bakeries and buying the homemade, organic dog treats to substitute for those store bought treats. Buying these treats are fun with the many different styles and flavors to choose from and the dog loves them. They have cookies shaped like paws, bones, and donuts with flavors like peanut butter and carob (a dog friendly chocolate substitute). Buying these treats can get expensive though, so I decided to get a recipe and make my own and my Puppy seems to like them just as much.
Peanut Butter Puppy Treats from www.bullwrinkle.com
2 cups whole-wheat flour1 tbsp. baking powder1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 375 F
In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder.
In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead.
Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown.
Cool and store in an airtight container.
* This is the original recipe, but I have found the cookies burn easily so check frequently and lower temperature.
