Thank you for this - it's the thing I have been wondering about!
I have always bought "ready" canvas from the shop while grinding my teeth at the price while at it - but also, I've sort of justified it to myself as I'd probably grind teeth much, much more if I did it all from cratch myself.

What I have been wondering about for some time is the price when I sell the painting. Should I lower the price of the painting because I didn't make the canvas myself, only the art on it shown?
I don't see why I should, but it's been gnawing at my thoughts ever since I was first asked "so, do you do everything yourself?" and I can't say I do. I find the thought of doing canvas from scratch ALONE a tedious, horrible ordeal!

I have yet to understand why it's so important for so many people that it's NOT a store-bought canvas the painting is on (if it's a good canvas, anyway).
