Make your own Save the Dates

Make your own Save the Dates

I am getting married this summer and since I am an artist I decided to make all of my stationary for this joyous event. This includes the wedding invitations, shower invitations, thank you notes, place cards, as well as the Save the Dates. I started out with making the Save the Dates because I am going to mail them out with my Holiday cards.

I have been researching different styles that many couples use. The styles vary from book marks, coasters, cards, magnets, and many more. The images on the Save the Dates can have an image of the couple or can match the wedding theme. Basically the possibilities are endless. I chose to do the Save the Dates the size of business cards and place them on magnets.

I started by typing the text on my computer with an elegant font and black text with just the words Save the Date in pink; which is the color for my wedding. I printed them out on Epson matte photo paper and cut them each to size. I bought precut business card size magnets at Michael’s craft store, but they also sell sheets that you can cut yourself. I then placed each paper card on the self adhesive magnets and pushed down show they would stick. I also purchased Martha Stewart brand, pink flower confetti, to glue on the cards next to the text.

After I let the magnets dry, I noticed that they were curling at the edges due to the glue drying under the flowers. All I did to flatten them out was place them under some books. Over all they turned out great and I am very pleased with them. Also they cost me about $20 for all of them. This was definitely an easy project and money saving item for any event.
