Freezing those Holiday Cookies

Freezing those Holiday Cookies

I absolutely love making cookies for the holidays, but I make so many and always have a ton of leftovers. I even give some cookies away but m always left with at least a few plates full.  Now I could definitely eat them all myself, but we all know how unhealthy that would be, so I decided to learn for this year how to freeze my leftover cookies.

Freezing Baked Cookies…

Tips to remember when freezing your baked cookies. I received all my information from recipes.com, a great site for all your baking needs.

Cookies will keep in the freezer for up to 3 or 4 weeks.

Double-wrap the cookies in plastic wrap, write the date and type of cookie on the outside of the package.

When ready to eat the frozen cookies, let them come to room temperature.

Freezing Cookie Dough…

Tips to remember when freezing your cookie dough. I received all my information from recipes.com, a great site for all your baking needs.

Avoid freezing cake-like cookies and cookies that have a very liquid batter.

Most cookie dough freezes well and can be kept for up to 4 or 6 weeks.

Double-wrap the dough in plastic wrap to stop freezer burn and odor absorption.

Write the date and type of cookie on the outside of the package.

Ready to bake, let the dough defrost in the refrigerator for several hours.
