Candy cane and Chocolate
It’s not Christmas without the warm hot chocolate smell of cocoa and adding peppermint to the mix is an even bigger treat. This drink is a great alternative to hot cocoa and is perfect for the whole family to sip on. I got this recipe and great idea from the site recipes.com, one of my favorite places for yummy recipes.
Ingredients… (serves 4)
4 cups milk
3 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped
4 peppermint candy canes, crushed
1 cup whipped cream
4 small peppermint candy canes
Directions…
In a saucepan, heat the milk until hot. Do not let it boil.
Whisk in the chocolate and the crushed peppermint candies until the mix is melted and smooth.
Pour hot cocoa into four mugs, and garnish with whipped cream. Serve each with a candy cane stirring stick.
* I tried this recipe with the powder cocoa mix instead of the semi sweet chocolate. It works just fine, but is not as rich and creamy.
