Great Buttercream
For my wedding cake I new what I wanted for the frosting…Buttercream. I absolutely love the taste and flavors of buttercream frostings, but for my cake I wanted a classic and traditional buttercream. For my shower I wanted to match the flavors of my wedding cake, so I decided to have the same buttercream frosting on the shower cupcakes. I am having a family member make the cupcakes and they gave me this great buttercream recipe. Hope you enjoy!
Ingredients…(serves 2 dozen cupcakes)
1 cup of softened unsalted butter
6-8 cups confectionary sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
Directions…
Place the butter in a large bowl.
Add 4 cups sugar, milk, and vanilla.On medium speed, use an electric mixer to mix for about 5 minutes until smooth and creamy.Add remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the icing is thick enough for good spreading consistency.Add food coloring if want and mix thoroughly.You can store the icing at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Do not refrigerate because icing will set if chilled.
