Homemade Mac and Cheese

Homemade Mac and Cheese

I have wrote before about how much I love mac and cheese and how homemade is always better. Mac and cheese is a family favorite but it is not the best health food for your family or yourself, so why not make your mac and cheese night a homemade one. If you are going to indulge in this classic dinner, I recommend this easy and homemade mac and cheese recipe. I received it from a friend and was not disappointed and neither will you. Enjoy!

Ingredients…

1 box elbow macaroni

1/4 cup butter

2 cups milk

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 package cream cheese- 8 oz.

salt & black pepper to taste

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

1 cup bread crumbs

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Directions…

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Bring water to a boil in large pot.

Cook macaroni pasta for 8-10 minutes, drain.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour.

Cook for about 1 minute, until smooth and bubbly; stirring occasionally.

Mix in milk, cream cheese, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard.

Continue cooking until sauce is thickened.

Add cooked macaroni and Cheddar cheese.

Pour into 2 quart casserole dish.

In small bowl mix together bread crumbs, butter and parsley.

Spread it over macaroni and cheese.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and heated through.
