Masonite Panels for Painting!

I have recently discovered a new surface to paint on and I am in love. I always try to experiment with new painting surfaces and saw that masonite panels are used by a variety of artist. These panels come in a wide range of sizes and shapes. They are very in expensive and are perfect for acrylic paints. They probably won’t work well with oils and not at all with water color.PhotobucketI enjoy them because they are smooth and are hard so they can’t rip or tear like canvas or paper. Masonite also can come gessoed or primed and can have a back surface of wood for more support.I have been using the panels that have a thin layer of gesso and that are braised in the back with wood. These ones are ready to hang. The plain panels are thin and should always be framed.  These panels can be found at any art store including Dick Blick and AC Moore.   Photobucket
